About SBTC

Founded in 2012, the Santa Barbara Track Club has grown to provide opportunities for athletes of all ages and ability levels within Santa Barbara county. Thanks to a great community of support that has included private donations, corporate sponsorships and local grants, the SBTC has been able to grow the sport for community members within our local area and region.

SBTC athletes at the elite level of competition have garnered a more than 35 Top-10 USA finishes. In 2015, Barbara Nwaba became the SBTC’s first USA National Champion in track and field with her victory in the women’s heptathlon. One year later, Nwaba became the SBTC’s first Olympian as she defended her title to earn the Olympic Trials gold medal and lead the United States team to the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. In total, the SBTC has placed athletes on 15 USA National teams in the combined events. Of these placements, SBTC athletes have claimed 8 international medals.

Since its founding, the SBTC has operated youth clinics, volunteered at elementary and middle school events and hosted all comer’s track & field meets. In 2014, the SBTC launched a youth track program which provides training and competition seasons for athletes ages 7-14.
